We believed it 5 years before Chamath Palihapitiya did
Capto has basically earned a turtleneck roll for each year that we've been in business.
No shame in now standing on the shoulders of giants. Chamath Palihapitiya has his own motivations and targets for 8090 Solutions and Software Factory.
So while at the same time as we'd politely point out that this is effectively the precise thesis that Alexis Chevallot + Marchela Georgieva founded Capto's business years ago. (In case you didn't know, we've all known each other since then!)
There are some differences in vision...
Bootstrapped and a truly personal approach to our engagements. We end up working with companies we want to and humbly know that we can support effectively, at the same time helping strengthen communities around the ones which we believe in. Not so much dropping in an FDE with limited domain expertise, or a traditional Big-4 consultant that's forcefully changing its stripes, giving them unlimited Claude tokens, and hoping for the best.
Sure we'll be challenged to compete with the name brand equivalent of having The Home Depot's network of subcontractors do work on your house. But what we are seeing first hand is that there is an abundance of organizations who value the local contractor that built most the homes in the neighborhood and knows how your pesky upstairs toilet is always leaking.
AI & Automation that's built custom to own, with true artisan care and service, that's what makes the build > buy math that much more compelling.
