Ten Things We Love About Developers - Capto Weekly #13
Standing up for our friends... and what's right.
They might be one of the roles that’s been hit hardest by the headlines and AI advances over the past few months. This week we help them push back on the misconception that their positions have been made redundant. Maybe the world doesn’t need any hand-written code one day, but it certainly needs people who know how to manage what’s being generated.
Yes, we do have a bias, because when Capto was founded we made a bet that building in code was better. We were right when people told us “no-code will replace this” or “low-code” is faster. Fast forward to today and almost every serious AI & automation project we see ends up in code... with a developer involved.
Why? Here’s only 10 reasons:
They guardrail LLMs and stop impactful hallucinations.
They account for failures, timeouts, and exceptions.
They eliminate duplicates, streamline the code and make it “beautiful”, not gibberish.
They build structure, frame, and context so Agents don’t get confused by human interactions.
They isolate side effects and protect against hostile inputs, so one bad output doesn’t cascade.
They have supreme vision through logs, traces, and replayability.
They train Agents for consistently better accuracy.
They know proper security and where the risk of a hack is.
They manage cost, latency, and token-budgeting.
They know how to push constant evolution and improvement based on the initial code.
Based on real experiences and tales that we’ve heard or seen directly. It took us only a few minutes to compile these advantages of developer involvement.
Let us know if you’d like more details and the risks of what could happen if ignored...
Do you have access to a developer for your projects? Call or hug them to say thanks. If you don’t... maybe you should...

We’re going to stick with a commitment of highlighting any post that eloquently shines a light on the “prototype trap” as Antti Pasila coins it in this post... and all the surrounding risks and downfalls of “vibe coding from the hip” as we’d describe it.
