That was one of my notes at the EY CFO Forum, and despite what many tech people might disagree with, I'm fully behind this statement!
Excel is a fantastic platform, natural to anyone. Within a few minutes, you can understand what's presented. I believe Excel will remain relevant in the Agentic age and will be one of the favorite ways to interact with an Agent.
A few numbers that back this up:
▶️ 80% of our Agents have an Excel file as a source of data or deliver information through it
▶️ 750 million+ people worldwide use Excel daily
▶️ 88% of companies rely on Excel for critical business decisions
▶️ 100% of finance people use Excel and probably dream about one or two spreadsheets
The bottom line? While AI and automation are transforming business, Excel isn't going anywhere. It's the universal language of business. The future isn't about replacing Excel, it's about AI Agents that can read, write, and reason through spreadsheets and interact with their human managers.
Plenty of other highlights will come over the next few weeks but wanted to clarify that one as this is one of the first question we get: "Can your Agent use our Excel?"
